¨Com o desenvolvimento desordenado das cidades, a mobilidade urbana tornou-se complexa dificultando o atendimento de saúde rápido por via terrestre, além da impossibilidade de acesso a lugares remotos com esse tipo de locomoção. Sabe-se que a sobrevida de um paciente crítico está diretamente relacionada com a rapidez com que é submetido ao tratamento definitivo adequado. Diante de tal realidade, a necessidade de atendimento rápido e adequado na fase pré-hospitalar torna-se imperativa. Fatores como horário do dia, movimento no trânsito, distribuição das unidades de atendimento móvel e local para onde o paciente será encaminhado influenciam diretamente no tempo de atendimento pré-hospitalar. Neste contexto, o serviço aeromédico faz-se relevante, pois pacientes graves necessitam de deslocamento veloz dos profissionais de saúde, diminuindo o risco de piora do estado crítico de vida. O atendimento aeromédico é atividade complexa que visa a busca, localização, resgate e atendimento de pacientes que sofreram acidentes, violências ou agravos clínicos, em locais distantes, remotos ou de difícil acesso, nos quais as ambulâncias, por via terrestre, não possam fácil ou rapidamente alcançar ou ainda, em situações de calamidades e desastres como terremotos, inundações, incêndios, quedas de aeronaves, naufrágios, entre outro. ¨
