Síndrome de Kartagener Online (Kartagener syndrome)

¨Em 1933, Kartagener descreveu a tríade composta por dextrocardia, rinossinusopatia crônica e bronquiectasia como uma entidade clínico-patológica distinta. Kartagener deu ênfase ao caráter familiar e hereditário desta síndrome. A Síndrome de Kartagener é causada por uma doença autossômica recessiva rara, que apresenta uma tríade composta por pansinusite crônica, bronquiectasia e situs inversus com dextrocardia. A Síndrome de Kartagener é causada por uma doença autossômica recessiva rara, que apresenta uma tríade composta por pansinusite crônica, bronquiectasia e situs inversus com dextrocardia. Durante a evolução desta doença, o paciente pode apresentar panbronquiolites difusas, esterilidade, otites médias crônicas e lesões localizadas principalmente nos broquíolos respiratórios. Os pacientes apresentam tipicamente infecções no trato respiratório desde crianças. Ela é um subgrupo da síndrome da imotilidade ciliar, também chamada de discinesia ciliar primária. A dineína ciliar, geradora da força mecânica no movimento ciliar, é deficiente em pacientes com síndrome de Kartagener.  Os pacientes do sexo masculino também podem ter espermatozóides imóveis e, como resultados, são estéreis.¨
