¨A maconha medicinal já é uma realidade no Brasil: mais de 78 mil unidades de produtos à base da planta foram importados pelo país desde que a Anvisa (Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária) autorizou o uso terapêutico de canabidiol em janeiro de 2015. O canabidiol (CBD), um dos principais componentes da maconha, até então estava na lista de substâncias proibidas pela agência reguladora. Com o desenvolvimento de pesquisas sobre seu uso para tratamento dos sintomas de diversas doenças, a Anvisa reconheceu o potencial para tratamentos e colocou o composto na lista de substâncias controladas. Desde 2015, os produtos derivados da maconha foram prescritos por mais 800 médicos brasileiros. Cada paciente também precisa solicitar liberação à Anvisa para adquirir o medicamento. Hoje, 4.617 pessoas já têm autorização para importar para uso próprio¨.
