Síndrome de Shwachman-Diamond II Online (Shachman-Diamond Syndrome II)

A síndrome de Shwachman Diamond é um distúrbio autossômico recessivo caracterizado por anomalias congênitas, disfunção pancreática exócrina, falência da medula óssea e predisposição para mielodisplasia (MDS) e leucemia, particularmente leucemia mielóide aguda (AML). A síndrome é um distúrbio multissistêmico com manifestações potenciais nos sistemas esquelético, hepático, cardíaco, imunológico e nervoso central. Antes da identificação do gene SBDS, a síndrome foi diagnosticada com base em critérios clínicos que consistiam na combinação de insuficiência medular (geralmente manifestada por neutropenia) e disfunção pancreática exócrina]. Com o advento dos testes genéticos para mutações no SBDS, a gama de fenótipos clínicos de SDS agora pode ser explorada.
